JJ Giltinan Trophy Annually, February/March - Sydney Harbour, Australia
The JJ Giltinan was first raced in 1938 in Sydney Harbour. It has been raced annually ever since and represent the pinnacle championship of the global 18ft Skiff calendar. Many sailors from around the world make the annual pilgrimage to Sydney to take part in this legendary championship. This is usually a televised 7 race series with one race per day and usually a lay day to enjoy the sights and sounds of sydney.
Mark Foy Trophy Annually - Global roaming event
The Mark Foy Trophy was established in 2009 to give global 18ft skiff racing a focused international event outside Australia in memory of the founder of 18ft skiff racing, Mark Foy. Mr Foy established the sport of Skiff racing in 1892 on a number of core principals and values that remain embeded in the sport today. Racing takes place over 6 days with 12 televised races.
European Championship Trophy Annually, June/July - Europe
The European championship has enjoyed some of Europe's most stunning sailing locations from the Italian lakes to the Bay of Quiberon in Brittanay. Participation and grown in the last 10 years and as an open championship enjoys the involvement of the worlds best sailors from America's and Asia Pacific regions. Racing take place over 6 days with 12 races.
San Francisco International & Bridge 2 Bridge Race Annually, August - San Francisco Bay, USA
The windy event, and renowned for teams leaving their big rigs in the container. This event delivers some of the toughest 18ft skiff sailing on the new home waters of the Americas Cup. Strong winds and the San Francisco bay chop ensures racing is demanding and dramatic. Included in the racing schedule is the Bridge 2 Bridge race. Open to other types of boat and often competed in by windsurfers and kite boards, the 7.5 mile downwind race runs from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge.
European Grand Prix Trophy Annually, June to October - Europe
The European Grand Prix is a racing series consisting of usually 4 to 5 three day events and includes the European Championship. Often held at past or future European Championship locations these high quality events generate great turnout and participation from teams all over Europe. In recent years teams have represented Denmark, Germany, France, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands and the UK.
UK National Championship Cup Annually, June/July/August - UK
Usually a three day, 9 race event and held as an open event, the racing welcomes international teams to enjoy some of the best sailing the UK has to offer. Some of the best UK sailors and past legends have won this event over the years and as such the event receives its deserved media attention.
UK Grand Prix Trophy Annually, April to October - UK
UK Teams compete for the RMW Grand Prix Cup. The racing series consisting of usually 4 or 5 two or three day events including UK National Championship. Racing is organised to work with the European Grand Prix ensuring teams are able to compete in both European and UK Grand Prix series. Coverage of the racing is communicated for each event to both online and traditional national and international sailing magazines often with video footage.
