Update from the regatta half way point
UK’s Andy Budgen and his Hyde Sails team of Dan Wilsdon and Matt Wark, had to come from behind to take their victory by 19s from the consistent Red Claw Wines (Matthew Searle, Archie Massey and Mike McKenzie) in Heat 3, sponsored by Slam, of the 2011 JJ Giltinan Trophy. Thurlow Fisher Lawyers (Michael Coxon, Aaron Links and Trent Barnabas) a further 20s back in third place.
Defending champion Seve Jarvin and Gotta Love It 7 team Sam Newton and Scott Babbage had a day they would prefer to forget. The pre championship favourites capsized twice yet still managed to finish fifth and share the championship with Thurlow Fisher Lawyers on 8 points.

UK sailor Andy Budgen provides insight on latest activities
We only have days until the JJ Giltinan starts.....The 18ft Skiff World Championship. It's quite noticeable that many teams are out practicing in the evenings. We have 28 Teams competing this year. Two from the UK, Americans, New Zealand and of course Australia.
The "JJ" used to be sailed in the big NE Seabreeze winds of January but in recent years the event has been moved back to Feburary and now March for some reason beyond my comprehension.
The JJ consists of 8 race , one of which is a practice race, around a choice of 6 different Harbour Courses. Start Time every day is 2.30pm.....very civilised.....except later on Saturdays to let the harbour clear of boats.
Currently it looks like the weather is going to be a bit of a mixed bag so should make things interesting. At this time there are only really 2 teams that I Feel have the experience and look like they could lift the trophy. Both have won it several times.....
