Planning for the 11th International 18ft Skiff Regatta in San Francisco is underway.  The annual international regatta in San Francisco usually guarantees the small rig see's light of day and it's likely the big rig doesn't come out of the container.  Decent breeze and the San Francisco chop guarantees a test of skill for the best 18 crews.  A layday is usually planned and the event coinsides with the legendary bridge to bridge race for the skiffs to pit there wits, nerves and horsepower against the likes of kiteboarders and windsurfers.  The Bridge to Bridge is a 7.5 mile downwind race runs from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge.

Report and Overall Results

The Australian arrived a stranger in town but made himself right at home with the familiarly frisky winds and tides and fog and even an unfamiliar mid-regatta heat wave to win the ninth annual 18ft Skiff International Regatta, hosted by the St. Francis Yacht Club, San Francisco.

On his first visit to San Francisco, Michael Coxon overcame a stumbling entrance with five wins in the last eight races to hold off by one point another young Aussie, John "Herman" Winning Jr., who won three.
